Mangalyaan Mars Orbiter left earth for a 300 days journey to Mars.

Mangalyaan the first mars orbiter of India, has left the earth's orbit to the orbit of sun, for a 300 days long journey to Mars. The spacecraft started its newton engine at 12.49 a.m IST on 01.12.13 Sunday. The required thrust for this long journey will be provided by the Newton Engine in the spacecraft. When Mangalyaan crosses 3 lakh kilometers, Mangalyaan will become the first spacecraft by India to travel such a long distance. The spacecraft will reach the upper atmosphere of Mars on September, 2014. Though many countries have filed in reaching Mars, ISRO has expressed its fullest confidence in reaching the Red Planet. The 280days long journey shooted by on 1st of december, 2013.  

How long would Mangalyaan Stay in Mars ?
Its about 180 days, i.e for 6 months. Though its not clear that what will happen to the space craft after 6 months, it is said that the fuel will be over within 6 months. Thus there will be no use of Mangalyaan after that period.
